Vampyres in the Park

A Maryland Vampyre & Goth Picnic

"A gathering of Vampyres, Goths, Witches, Nightkind, and our friends, family, and allies. An opportunity to get to know your community, hang out together, learn some new things, make some art, and enjoy each others company.

What is Vampyres in the Park?

Vampyres in the Park is our annual October “Vampyre & Goth Picnic” that we’ve had every year since 2018. It was not always named Vampyres in the Park, but we’ve evolved our twice-a-year picnics to become the spookyfam spectacular that they have become!

Vampyres in the Park is a family friendly daytime potluck social gathering held in October every year where folks who feel at home in spooky season, creatures of the night, and friends of the darkness can gather together in a low impact, quiet enough to hear each other talk environment.

Skeletons in the Park

Skeletons in the Park is our Springtime edition of our Goth Picnics hosted by the ever amazing Nikki Cyberfaery. Throughout the journey of our picnics, Nikki has taken the reigns of some of the picnics to share the hosting responsibilities. Our picnics wouldn’t be what they are today without her <3

Where & When is Vampyres in the Park?

  • Our next Vampyres in the Park Picnic is October 4, 2026 at 12pm-6pm
  • Picnic is held at Patapsco Valley State Park – Hollofield Area – Pavilion #300
    • 8021 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043

Things to know before you arrive!

  • It is $3 per person to enter for in-state guests. $5 per person for out of state guests. This is state park protocol and has nothing to do with us.
  • It is a pot luck event. We provide a limited picnic menu for our guests but our amazing guests always bring tasty snacks and beverages to share as well.
  • The venue is wheelchair accomodatable. Underneath the pavilion is a bit of a tight squeeze but you can access the pavilion with mobility aids including wheelchairs. Full restrooms are a small distance away from the pavilion but it is a paved distance with a handicap stall available.
  • Parking is available very close to the pavilion.

What do you do at Vampyres in the Park??

We have FUN at our Picnics!

We pride ourselves in having a handful of things for our picnickers to participate in that range in different levels of social spoons usage!

Goth Swap!

Our clothing and item swap for alternative styles! You can bring your gently used clothing, accessories, books, witchcraft supplies, and other things that can be adopted by others to take home and love.

Arts & Crafts!

We always have a table set up for doing arts and crafts. Sometimes folks get nervous in social situations and we totally get that. Grab some art supplies and focus on a little project for a bit. Paint a rock! Color a picture! Or bring your own art supplies and work on your favorite crochet, knit, cross stitch, sketchbook, or anything else you may want to bring.

Photoshoots!

We love bringing out photographers to come to photoshoots at our picnics. It’s an epic opportunity for photographers to come practice their shooting with a wide array of interesting and colorful individuals. We almost always have at least one official photographer on site who is available to take some incredible photos of you against a gorgeous forest backdrop or against the stone pavilion. We also have different decorations and photo props available for you to get the most out of your photo ops.

Do you need to be a Goth,  vampyre, or Witch to attend?

No! Absolutely not.

We welcome everyone and we’ve had all manner of folks join us over the years! As long as you’re friendly, positive, and lovingly weird, you’re welcome to come and hang out with us!

History of the Mobtown Vampyre’s Picnic

Our Previous Picnics

How it began…

2018 – The VCB Presents – Goth Picnic

Our First Goth Picnic was held at the Baltimore Free Farm in 2018. I remember we had originally wanted to have it at Fort Howard but didn’t realize they closed for the Halloween season for the dungeons at the time. So we moved it to the Baltimore Free Farm who graciously hosted us.

2019 – Picnic with the
Vampire Court of Baltimore

In 2019 we moved from the Baltimore Free Farm to North Point State Park. We had our 2019 picnics in June & October.

2020 – Goths at the beach!

In 2020, the incredible Nikki Cyberfaery began to help host some of our picnics. Due to COVID we one had one picnic in 2020 and 2021, but we still had the one each year and kept our social distancing protocols in check so nobody got sick. We were very thankful for those few moments of togetherness in timeline where lockdowns were always looming.

In 2020, we had our picnic at Sandy Point State Park.

2021 – A Picnic for our Sanity

Vampyres at the Park 2021 – Gunpowder State Park Hammerman Area

In 2021, the organization that was the Vampire Court of Baltimore was winding down but we still were meeting up as a community. The damages of COVID were rampant and we wanted to have a social distance gathering of just a few folks because we really needed it.
